Modern Warfare 3 vs The Girlfriend/Wife

And so it is... Modern Warfare 3 came out on Tuesday, sold a RIDICULOUS amount of copies on the first day, and... it garnered up a ridiculous amount of complaints from significant others who don't understand the significance of the videogame... So, as the giddy men posted pictures of their newly copped copies of MW3 from Gamestop and Walmart, etc, the women were there to hate... I mean... comment; "It can't be THAT serious" they said. "Men get out of bed to wait in line for a game at midnight, but won't run to the store real quick for us when we ask them," another said. And lastly, the famous "If men paid HALF as much attention to us as they do these videogames, we wouldn't have half the problems we have!"

But I thought about it... Women should be very happy for games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Madden and NBA2K (every year). There's so many other places that we could be. So much other foolishness that we could be getting into... but we're at home with you.... playing videogames, eating potato chips, drinking Coca Cola Classic (pay me) and cursing at our 52 inch LED television screen like it just grew a mouth and started disrespecting our mother. We're at home chillin'.

Honestly, you know what would make things better? If you accepted that videogames won't be going away anytime soon and joined in/pretended to be interested. If a girl knew how to play MW3 or Madden or any other major videogame with her boyfriend, the time they spend together would be endless! Go ahead and add 10 years to your relationship and send it to the bonus round - she will be kept around. (Sidenote: we will accept watching football/basketball AND being able to hold a knowledgeable conversation about it as a substitute if necessary.)

And while I am being a little silly, the underlying message behind what I'm saying is very true for both sexes: If you want a better relationship with your significant other, get interested in whatever it is that they are interested in. If she likes to crochet, learn how to do a shell stitch. If he likes basketball, learn who "The Iceman" George Gervin was and why he was so different. You're guaranteed to have better conversations and spend more time together. GUARANTEED!
